Passed the Maryland Bar and am applying for the DC Bar.  Next question is to go either for the California, New York, or Hawaii Bar...

Taken from another blog, it describes the end of the PlanetES anime series.  Please don't read on if you plan on seeing this great series.  I'll lend you the DVD's if you'd like.  The game the two characters are playing is Shiritori, which involves one person giving out a word, and the next person must use the last character of that word or phrase to form another word.  This continues until someone can't come up with a word or uses a word that ends in -n, which has no beginning word in Japanese.  You can read more about it at the other blog.

The Tour de France is over and Alberto Contador, surrounded by all sorts of craziness, rides away with the Yellow Jersey (and White Jersey).  It was quite an exciting Tour, with great mountain battles and a time trial nailbiter to the end.  It's too bad they don't broadcast more cycling in the United States.  I would absolutely watch it.

Now time to get my fat ass on the bike again, and to the workouts.  I think I will try and lose 5 lbs this August.

I'll start blogging more about my journey.

I must say, the Tour de France Stage 14 was one of the craziest cycling races I have seen in my life.  The number of attacks in the final climb, culminating with the victory of Alberto Contador was great.  I can only hope Stage 15 will be as good tomorrow.

I'll be taking the Maryland Bar on Tuesday.  Hopefully it won't be too bad.

I hope everyone has enjoyed their Harry Potter days.  Now that all the books are out, I promised my roommate that I would read them.  Of course, for the primary purpose of criticism. =)

If the books end up being well-written, then I win.  If the books aren't very good, then I win, too.  Gotta love win-win situations!

Zen of Fish

Just finished reading the book, The Zen of Fish.  I highly recommend it to anyone who wishes to know more about the world of sushi.  The writer has done his homework, learning the art of sushi making and the practices behind getting the ingredients for sushi.

Here is a supplemental article I found interesting about the business behind sushi, as it affects local restaurants.

Here's a great song I got from watching a movie of the same name, Nada Sousou.

Translation:
I whisper "thank you", as I leaf through this old photograph album,
to one who always cheered me on, within my heart
And should the memories of that smile I think of,
come rain or shine, fade away into the distance
They return in the days I search for a glimpse of your face, a stream of tears

Almost a habit now, I wish upon the very first star
Looking within the evening skies for you with all my heart
The memories of that smile I think of, in sorrow or joy
And if you can see me, from where you are
I'll live on, believing that someday we'll meet again

And should the memories of that smile I think of,
come rain or shine, fade away into the distance
In loneliness and yearning - my feelings for you, a stream of tears
If only we could meet, if only we could meet - my feelings for you, a stream of tears

Well, it seems the new list of the Seven Wonders of the World has been released.  The list was generated from online polling and text messaging, after taking a preliminary candidate list.  From what I can see, there wasn’t much input from the scientific community as to what the Seven Wonders are.  Without further ado, here are the new Seven.

• The Great Wall of China

• Petra in Jordan

• Brazil’s statue of Christ the Redeemer

• Peru’s Machu Picchu

• Mexico’s Chichen Itza pyramid

• The Colosseum in Rome

• India’s Taj Mahal

Number 8, as an “honorary member”, are the Great Pyramids at Giza.

I find the list interesting.  It seems that the list created reflects one great wonder from each major region, with the exception of 3 wonders based in Central and South America.  Although I do recognize Macchu Pichu and Chichen Itza as great wonders, I’m not so sure of the statue of Christ the Redeemer.  Either way, I have a feeling there was definitely regional block voting going on.  UNESCO has pretty much washed its hands of responsibility of the whole ordeal.

Then again, it doesn’t really matter.  It wasn’t like the original Wonders of the Ancient World was a list that included anything outside of the Mediterranean.
